I've been crafting… now it's time to get fancy!

I've been busy making things for the Craft and Fancy Show…

It will be this Saturday, December 7, from 10 until 5 at Home ec.,
which is on Linn Street in Iowa City.

I'll post some beauty shots here over the next few days.
Here are some new earrings…

from old industrial brass tacks,

to buttons,

charms,

 and pieces of history.

I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

Enjoy the season, and thank you for supporting local vendors and independent artists!

Oh, and don't take any of those in the above picture…

Patience

I am not a patient woman.

And so as I wait to hear back from the publisher, I made some things.

(also in an effort to procrastinate the laundry and cleaning.)

had a wonderful customer custom order 'a single earring' as she only wears one. I have a few other friends who like to mix and match their ear wear and so I've added 'single earrings' to Age Before Beauty's repertoire--- For those who enjoy the asymmetric :-)

What fun!

Thanks, Meshel, for the great idea. Now I'll be nice and busy while I work on my life lesson...

patience.

Getting Ready...

Craft and Fancy 5 is this Saturday, Dec. 1st at Home Ec. from 10-5 in Iowa City.

I always go a little crazy--- so many wonderful bits and bobs that I've collected all year long. And never enough time to make them into all the jewelry that I've imagined.

But my sore little fingers are trying...?

Hope to see you Saturday if you're local, and if not, hope you pop into Age Before Beauty on etsy this Sunday for new listings in my shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Red

                         I'm seeing red...

Little Red Riding hood.

Red beads from France.

Tiny red eyes.

Delicate red feathers.

Garnet red.

Sparkles of red.

A bowl-full of red.

Tick-tock, red.

Sisters with red.

And lovely red... ?

um?..

Oh, yes!

Summertime Flowers

Here are some soft, summertime flowers for your ears.
The ones in my garden have wilted from this horrible heat.

I hope to refresh my neglected etsy shop this week.
I've been pulled away from it by an illustration project, packing and unpacking for happy campers, and simply trying to survive the summer schedules of busy teens.

It's too hot to be in my garden. So I'll just hold up in my studio. And make some pretty flowers for your ears instead!

Transformation

Old bakelite game chips make terrific mossy ear-wear.

An antique glass button from a horse's fancy bridle becomes a glorious glowing focal point.

Two broken brooches--- create a heartfelt pendant.

Tiny, painted antique buckles = sweet earrings.

Worn (lucky?) old poker chips are now cool, industrial accessories.

A watch toggle and a broken photo locket provides closure.

To this beautiful antique sterling coin purse which now holds personal treasures, transformed into heirloom jewelry.
