I've been crafting… now it's time to get fancy!

I've been busy making things for the Craft and Fancy Show…

It will be this Saturday, December 7, from 10 until 5 at Home ec.,
which is on Linn Street in Iowa City.

I'll post some beauty shots here over the next few days.
Here are some new earrings…

from old industrial brass tacks,

to buttons,

charms,

 and pieces of history.

I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

Enjoy the season, and thank you for supporting local vendors and independent artists!

Oh, and don't take any of those in the above picture…

Tease

I'm a little like a proud mom.

I just can't seem to resist taking pictures of the jewelry all together.

So many tarnished pieces that I love---

seeing them all draped on my mannequin makes me rather giddy.

Thanks for looking at my babies :-)

Getting Ready...

Craft and Fancy 5 is this Saturday, Dec. 1st at Home Ec. from 10-5 in Iowa City.

I always go a little crazy--- so many wonderful bits and bobs that I've collected all year long. And never enough time to make them into all the jewelry that I've imagined.

But my sore little fingers are trying...?

Hope to see you Saturday if you're local, and if not, hope you pop into Age Before Beauty on etsy this Sunday for new listings in my shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Debut

Meet Hector,
He, along with a few of his friends, will be making their debut as cards and blank books at

Craft & Fancy 5
Saturday, December 1, 10-5
at Home ec. in downtown Iowa City

Not from the hood? Never fear, I will be adding them soon to my etsy site

If you are from the area, please consider spending a day here, shopping at all the wonderful independently owned businesses in Iowa City. I will be at Craft & Fancy with some illustration work, as well as Age Before Beauty jewelry.

My heavens, I can't believe it's this time of year already!

PopPop and my Shop

This is my PopPop.

He was a fascinating man who sat me on his lap and taught me how to draw swans with a single line, and horses out of circles.

When I opened my etsy shop, Age Before Beauty, I named it after one of my favorite sayings he had. He would always hold open the door for me and usher me through before him saying, "Age before beauty".

So, when trying to think of a name for my latest etsy venture (selling surplus bits and bobs, as well as cool vintage items) I turned to my inspirational and witty PopPop yet again.
He was famous for pushing his chair back from the dinner table when he was full saying,
"I've had sufficient aplenty, any more and I'll be a flippety flop"!

So thank you, PopPop, for all the inspiration you've given me.

And thank you, for stopping by my blog. If you would like to visit Sufficient Aplenty, I promise you won't be a flippety flop!

She Ate My Crayons!

She Ate My Crayons--- isn't that a hilarious name for a shop?
And what a wonderful shop it is. If you are a lover of vintage treasure, pop over and take a look, click here.

I've been working on a postcard that the owner commissioned me to do. That funny name is based on a true story---  her younger sister really did eat her crayons, thus giving this shop owner a lifelong excuse for why she has 'no small motor skills'.

So if you have a little time, browse around the wonderful world of etsy,
