The Galleon

I really adore old potmetal brooches from the 1930's and 40's.

The colors are always spectacular.

They are almost always slightly chippy.
And they are often quite elaborately constructed.

Building up layers of the image to create depth and dimension.

This is an incredible sailing ship, flanked by colorful and exotic flora.
The galleon, sailing the seas---off to a romantic adventure!

Thinking Spring!

Suddenly, my hand recoils from the brown wool sweaters in my closet.

I reach for happy colors like springy greens.

Soft beach blues...

and creamy hues.

Feminine, frilly, full of hope and rebirth.

Here's a little peek at some Spring inspired jewelry.

Listing soon, at Age Before Beauty.

I Wish You Luck...

What do you think this beautiful, cherished memento was from?

A real lucky clover, turned to olive, encased in clear plastic and topped with a now faded patriotic ribbon?

 I wish you luck!

The Green Queen

This necklace has a seductively sinister-ness to it.
It seems a little like something a Disney villainess would wear.

Not much sunlight here this morning, so I went close, close, close to the window.

A little bit of bad, is good, right?

Bling Love

Love is in the air...

or at least it is at Age Before Beauty.

A friend pointed out that the shop was rather low on show-stopping sparkle,

so I set out to rectify that problem.

It seems that during this bleak, dull time of year, a little sparkle is just what the doctor ordered.

A Druzy Gem

I just get kind of goose-pimply with the combination of rough, rough gemstones, and old, dark metal.  This is an amazing chunk of druzy amethyst quartz.

Hanging from it is an old (1897) Royal Jubilee Medal celebrating Queen Victoria's 60 years on the throne.

The once shiny medal has darkened to an amazing black patina.

The Happiest Wishes

My mother sent me this glorious old pin. So I set aside a few moments in all the chaos to make myself a little Holiday cheer.

It makes me think of her, and all things important this time of year.

Wishing everyone a very happy holiday season--- enjoy!
